Located about five kilometers northeast of Taj Mahal in Agra, one of the most famous and the oldest garden of India is Aaram Bagh. It is an exceptional example of symmetry and elegance of the Indian architecture of the last century. It is well known as paradise garden and Aalsi Bagh .Aalsi is an Urdu term that means “lazy”. So the garden is popular as Aalsi Bagh or Aaram Bagh.

Aaram Bagh is considered to be the most ancient mughal garden in India.It was built by the mughal emperor Babur in 1528 A.D.It lies about 2.5 kilometers north of Chini Ka Rauza.Emperor Babur was buried here before being reburied in Kabul.Aaram Bagh is a beautiful Persian style garden which contains both Persian and Hindu elements. It runs down from the major gateway of the Marble monument of the Taj and stretches right up to the entrance of the burial chambers.
According to legend, this garden has an interesting love story behind it. Emperor Akbar went to garden for six successive days in order to force his beloved, who was a garden to say ‘Yes’ to his proposal.
